Geology

This location is near the western edge of the Shirley Basin uranium mining district and contains monazite within heavy-mineral concentrates in coarse-grained arkosic sandstone and conglomerate in the basal White River Formation, which unconformably overlies the Wind River Formation. "A sample of gravel at the top of the Wind River Formation from the center of section 3 contained 9.7 percent heavy minerals, 23 percent of which were monazite." (Sutherland and Cola (2016))
